NORTH Wales pop starlet Lisa Scott-Lee is poised for a sensational reunion with her chart-topping former Steps band.

Sources close to the singer say a multi-million pound deal is on the table to reunite the supergroup which split in 2001.

Negotiations are underway to get back together the smash hit pop outfit who sold 30 million albums world wide and scored five successive top five hits.

Their biggest chart blockbuster was 5,6,7,8 in 1997. ( )

If all goes well then Lisa and the four other Steps members - Claire Richards,, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans and H - may be back to storm the charts.

A source is reported to have said: "When they were at their peak they played to record sell-out venues and are hoping to do the same again.

"The split was quite bitter but it's been five years and a lot of water has passed under the bridge and they're ready to move on."

The Rhyl-born singer tried to make it as a solo artist with mixed success.

Recently the former Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan pupil was handed a triple whammy with three Naomi awards for the supposed poorest performers in the music industry, but her single Electric charted at number 13 after its October release.

British chart-toppers STEPS have reportedly been offered a $5.4 million (3million) deal to reunite after a five-year hiatus.

The pop quintet, best known for pop hits including ONE FOR SORROW, sold more than 30 million albums worldwide before singer H's decision to quit the group lead to an acrimonious split in 2001.

Promoters hope to mirror the success of British boy band TAKE THAT, who are embarking on a sell-out UK tour and forthcoming studio album after reuniting in November (05).

Bandmembers CLAIRE RICHARDS, FAYE TOZER, LISA SCOTT-LEE and LEE LATCHFORD-EVANS are already holding provisional comeback discussions, but have yet to convince H - real name IAN WATKINS - to rejoin the outfit.

Since leaving the band, Watkins has carved a successful career in London's West End after landing leading roles in hit shows JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT and WE WILL ROCK YOU.

A close source tells British paper the News of the World, "The 3million is just a down-payment to get them on the road.

"Once they do that, promoters are hoping they will bring in more millions.

"When they were at their peak they played to sell-out venues and are hoping to do the same again.

"The split was quite bitter but it's been five years and a lot of water has gone under the bridge.

"H is the only problem. He's doing so well acting it would be a big decision for him to leave that."
